While earning his degree from the University of California at Berkeley, Marty worked as a carpenter. After earning his Contractor’s license in 1992 he finished his first major project: a three-home development in Berkeley, CA. His Berkeley-based company began to grow by taking on small residential remodels additions. Now, Kaufman Construction’s portfolio includes a wide array of commercial and institutional projects.

Ruth first joined KCI with no knowledge of construction. What she did have was a willingness to learn, and the experience of owning her own small business. Now she oversees daily operations, keeping the company focused as it grows. While the onsite teams keep the projects on track, Ruth creates and maintains the systems that make KCI an efficient and supportive workplace for all its employees.
